The new picture for retiree and civil servant salary hikes is clear: How much will the new salaries be?

The Central Bank has announced the results of the September Market Participants Survey. According to the results, the market participants' year-end consumer price index (CPI) expectation decreased from 43.31 percent to 43.14 percent. The 12-month ahead CPI expectation, which was 28.71 percent in the previous survey period, became 27.49 percent in this survey period. The 24-month ahead CPI expectation was recorded as 19.30 percent and 18.38 percent, respectively, for the same survey periods.

Retirees and civil servants receive a raise every 6 months. In July, the pension increase for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees was announced as 24.73 percent, while the increase for civil servants and civil servant retirees was 19.31 percent. The lowest pension was also raised from 10 thousand liras to 12,500 liras. Raise projections have now been determined through the Central Bank's survey.

If the forecast holds true, inflation for the second half of 2024 will reach 14.76 percent. This figure represents the raise for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees. For civil servants and civil servant retirees, the inflation difference will be 4.33 percent, while the January raise will reach 10.59 percent.

After nearly 4 million retirees received a zero raise following the July increase, the lowest pension was raised from 10 thousand liras to 12,500 liras.

However, the decline in inflation figures will cause the same problem in January. In this context, the lowest pension will be re-evaluated in January. It is already being stated that a figure of 14-15 thousand TL is on the government's table.
