New scandal in neonatal care: Major negligence revealed

Another neonatal scandal has occurred in Ankara. Adnan S. has filed a complaint with the prosecutor's office regarding disruptions during the six months of check-ups conducted by Prof. Dr. A.B. at a private hospital while his ex-wife was pregnant with twins.

Stating that Dr. A.B. refused to provide appointments on the grounds that he could not accept her private health insurance, Adnan S. explained that they were forced to go to the doctor's private practice.

PREMATURE BIRTH

It was stated that the twins, born prematurely at 32 weeks, were admitted to the hospital's neonatal unit.

However, alleging that there was significant negligence during the babies' post-birth treatment process, Adnan S. claimed that the male baby suffered permanent damage due to this negligence and has filed a criminal complaint with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

SURGERY DECISION PROVED INCORRECT

The family noticed swelling in the baby's genital area and consulted the private hospital. Adnan S. stated that a pediatric surgeon at the hospital recommended surgery with a diagnosis of a "hernia," but they learned during an examination at a different university hospital that there was no condition requiring surgery.

TRUTH REVEALED AT ANOTHER HOSPITAL

The family, having noticed that the male twin was less active than his sister, alleged that the child's condition was concealed during check-ups at the private hospital.

Examinations conducted at another hospital revealed that the child has "cerebral palsy."

SEARCH FOR JUSTICE

Adnan S. has filed a complaint against the private hospital and the doctor for "misconduct in office" and "negligent injury."

The father stated that his child requires treatments such as physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy, and demanded that all those responsible for the negligence at the hospital be punished.
