New taxi service from IMM! 'App-based taxi' is starting
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) is launching the "App-Based Taxi" project to increase safety and quality in taxi services. In the project, which will include 2,500 taxis, passengers will only be able to call vehicles via digital applications, trips will be recorded, and the yellow taxi tariff will be applied.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Prof. Dr. Volkan Demir announced that they will implement a new system to find a solution to the taxi problem in Istanbul.

Demir stated that 2,500 'App-Based Taxis' will be put into service for Istanbul residents.
THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PICK UP PASSENGERS FROM THE STREET
According to Demir, these taxis will not pick up passengers from the street and will only be able to accept passengers through approved digital applications. Furthermore, all trips will be recorded to ensure a safe journey for both Istanbul residents and taxi drivers.
The yellow taxi tariff will be applied to the taxis in the project. 2,500 taxis will operate within the scope of the application. Drivers will receive training from the IMM's transportation academy.
