New trend in Erzurum: Ice rink cafe where customers enjoy coffee on the ice!

33-year-old Koç, who saw cafes where garden floors were turned into ice rinks while visiting Russia for an international competition, decided to implement the concept he was inspired by in his own cafe in his hometown.

Koç turned an approximately 200-square-meter area in his business's garden into a natural ice rink by filling it with water in the city, which experiences freezing temperatures. He then placed tables and chairs on it, offering his customers the opportunity to eat and drink while ice skating.

Koç stated that he also organizes ice hockey matches on the rink he created from time to time.

Stating that the city has a climate suitable for this concept, Koç said, "We saw that there was no such opportunity for our people on ice. One day while drinking tea, this area caught our eye, and while thinking 'could we do this,' we started the work. It took us 2 weeks and a beautiful venue emerged."

CUSTOMERS ENJOY THE ICE WITH COFFEE IN HAND

Explaining that he also provides ice skating training at his business, Koç continued:

"Thank God our concept caught on and we received the rewards of our efforts. We have achieved such a beautiful concept. Our customers can come, drink their tea or soup, and benefit by skating; they can watch those skating while drinking their tea either on the ice or up in the warmth. Families watch their children's fun while drinking tea in a warm environment. We put tables and chairs on the ice; some of our customers sip their coffee while skating. We realized the ambiance of combining this with a cafe for the first time, and our people loved it."

SPORTS AND A FAMILY ENVIRONMENT TOGETHER HERE!

Physical education teacher Soner Çintimar, one of the customers, stated that he usually spends his free time in winter at this cafe.

Expressing his happiness that this concept, which he saw in European cities on television, was brought to the city, Çintimar said, "I love spending time here; there is a sports and family environment here. I can skate after drinking coffee. I haven't come across an example of this in Erzurum, and I recommend everyone to come here."

Ice hockey athlete Rabia Senem Delibaş, one of the customers, emphasized that she liked the business, saying, "I haven't come across an example of this place before. It is a place where you can eat, have fun, and spend quality time with your family. We can skate on a wide and beautiful rink with coffee in our hands, which is a very beautiful thing. It is a venue that appeals to athletes like us."
