New update coming to WhatsApp: Music, emojis, and polls

WhatsApp is introducing significant updates aimed at improving the user experience and increasing engagement through social media-style features.

According to a report by Android Police, these innovations offer features that will bring the app even closer to Instagram, another popular platform owned by Meta.

Leading the features currently in the testing phase are music-enabled status updates; users will now be able to add music to their statuses, just like in Instagram Stories, adding an emotional dimension to their posts.

Among these new WhatsApp features, a "customized emoji" list also stands out.

Users will be able to access their frequently used emojis more quickly, allowing them to use their preferred expressions more practically in status updates or message replies.

This feature is expected to appeal to users who want to personalize their status posts.

Improvements in media sharing are also prominent. Thanks to the "Search on Web" feature added to the chat screen, WhatsApp now allows users to perform photo searches directly via Google Lens.

This feature helps identify objects in photos quickly, making it easier to interpret images.

Additionally, photo and video sharing has become faster and more user-friendly with a direct shortcut added to the gallery.

Users will now be able to access their galleries easily while sharing media.

The new content stickers that WhatsApp has added for interactive status updates are also among the notable innovations.

With the "poll" sticker currently in the testing phase, users will be able to create multiple-choice polls in their status updates, thereby engaging with their followers.

Furthermore, a feature similar to the "Add Yours" sticker on Instagram is also being introduced.

With this sticker, users will be able to respond to a prompt, but the responses will be end-to-end encrypted so that they are only visible to the poster and designated individuals.

It remains unclear when these features, which are currently in the test version, will be released for general use.

However, by blurring the lines between its users and social media platforms while maintaining its commitment to privacy, WhatsApp aims to offer a more interactive communication experience.
