A new wave of rent increases is coming: Date announced

The high cost of living caused by high inflation is making access to basic needs such as housing increasingly difficult every day.

Industry representatives state that rents are expected to rise from August to October due to the combination of civil servant appointments, the announcement of university placement results, and the wedding season.

According to a report by Hülya Keskin Oruçoğlu from Sözcü, Hacı Ali Taylan, President of the Turkish Real Estate Consultants Federation, stated, “Due to the preferences of university students, the impact of civil servant appointments, and the decrease in housing supply, we will face intense demand for rental properties until October.”

This demand will be even higher, especially in major cities like Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir,” he said. Taylan stated, “Unfortunately, rents will increase during this period. However, people's purchasing power is clear. There was no interim raise for the minimum wage, and the pension increase is already determined.”

Hakan Akdoğan, Chairman of the Real Estate Committee of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, stated that rents in metropolitan areas could increase by 20-30 percent during this period.

Explaining that "relocations are frequently occurring during this period due to civil servant appointments and the impact of weddings," Akdoğan said, "With the increase, university students may have difficulty finding rental housing during this time. It is difficult both to find rental housing and to pay the rent in metropolitan areas."
