Mother who was a victim of the 'Newborn Gang' recounts her experience: This is what Fırat Sarı told the grieving family!
The Dağlı couple, among the first victims of the 'Newborn Gang', recounted their experiences. Mother Sevil Dağlı said, "I ran into Fırat Sarı as I was leaving the hospital, and he told me my baby would struggle to live for 2 weeks."
The 'Newborn Gang,' which generated illicit profits by referring newborn babies to contracted hospitals and caused the deaths of some infants, has become the top agenda item in Turkey.
According to allegations, the Dağlı couple, who were victimized by the gang, recounted the process they went through with Fırat Sarı and how their child was left disabled.
'THERE WAS NO DOCTOR THAT NIGHT'
Sevil Dağlı, a victim of the gang whose child was born in 2020, said, “I am fighting for my son, Asilhan. My child is experiencing health problems due to the negligence of this organization. He cannot run and play like other children his age.
For 4 years, as a mother, I have been my son's hands, feet, and everything. On November 14, 2020, I was taken into an emergency situation due to my water breaking spontaneously. They said the surgery went very well. They stated that there was no problem with my child, but that he would have to stay in intensive care for a while because his lungs had not developed.
When I woke up, I wanted to get information about my child, but there was no doctor at the hospital that night. When my husband went to the intensive care unit to ask about our child's condition, he was rebuffed by a nurse and sent away. I didn't see my child for 35 days. As I was leaving the hospital, I ran into Fırat Sarı, and he told me my baby would barely live for 2 weeks,” she said.
'IF WE HADN'T CHANGED HOSPITALS...'
Stating that her child did not die because they changed hospitals, mother Dağlı said, “He said, 'As a physician, I cannot guarantee that your child will live.' He said that even if he lived, he would be disabled. 'Go home and forget about your pregnancy,' he said. I am a mother, how can I forget my pregnancy? We realized later; my son was a potential customer.
They rebuff us, and we have to endure it. We are afraid they won't take care of him, so we stay silent about everything. I ask every day; they told me 'your child is not being fed, he is waiting while connected to a machine.' Their only concern was money. You would have seen my child's name on that list too if we hadn't changed hospitals,” she said.
'I WAS WILLING TO GIVE EVERYTHING I HAD'
Unable to hold back her tears, Sevil Dağlı said, “Think of it as a mother, mothers will understand me. I put my child on the carpet, and he stays there.
He cannot follow me; when we go outside, I cannot tell my son not to run. The fact that it was intentional hurts me so much.
I cannot accept that it was done knowingly and willingly. I wish they had taken everything I had.
I was willing to give everything I had, if only they hadn't stolen our smiles,” she said.
'I DO NOT FORGIVE THEM'
Recounting the process, the grieving father Orhan Dağlı said, “We learned about it later and followed it through the press. The conspiracy was built on this.
On being neglected, not being fed, and being sedated. Experts say the children were not being fed.
The person who told us he was a doctor and that he performed the first intervention turned out to be a nurse. We called him 'doctor' many times.
I do not forgive them; whether they were patient caregivers or baby nurses in that unit, their silence is very cruel.
A defenseless living being's life is being targeted; I wouldn't have stayed silent even if I lost my job.
Everyone was aware of this incident; the issue had already come to light through the complaint of another doctor,” he said.
In addition to the Dağlı family, many other victimized families continue to come forward.
Finally, it was revealed that there were also reports in Niğde, Kocaeli, Sakarya, and Antalya.
