The investigation continues into the gang that, by acting in concert with individuals working at the 112 Emergency Call Center in Istanbul, referred newborn patients to the neonatal units of private hospitals they had pre-arranged, causing their deaths and generating illicit profit. The prepared indictment also includes the money traffic of the gang members.

OPERATIONS OF 10 HOSPITALS SUSPENDED

The indictment prepared by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office includes 47 suspects, 22 of whom are under arrest. Furthermore, the operations of 10 of the 19 private hospitals mentioned in the indictment as "civilly liable" have been suspended.

According to the indictment, the first money traffic began on January 23, 2018. The assessment made in the indictment is as follows:

"It was observed in the conversation contents that Gıyasettin Mert Özdemir introduced himself as Doctor Ali to the 112 Emergency Call Center, and that an individual named Şiyar Atar also carried out unauthorized patient referrals with Gıyasettin Mert Özdemir; in the examination of account movements, it was assessed that the individual named Şiyar Atar had numerous account movements with the individual named Gıyasettin Mert Özdemir and that these movements stemmed from the financial gain provided on behalf of the organization..."

MONEY TRAFFIC CONTINUED UNTIL THE OPERATION BEGAN

The money traffic that began between gang members in 2018 continued until the operation started. The amount of money traffic that lasted for approximately 6 years and was included in the indictment was calculated to be approximately 20 million 393 thousand lira.

However, the amount they earned from the Social Security Institution (SGK) by keeping newborn babies in the intensive care unit was not included in the indictment.
