Northeaster hinders fishermen in Tekirdağ

In Tekirdağ, the northeasterly wind is negatively affecting maritime transport. Due to the northeasterly wind, which occasionally reaches speeds of 40 kilometers, 9 cargo ships and tankers with domestic and foreign flags have anchored off the coast of Tekirdağ. Due to the strong wind, fishermen were unable to set sail.

İbrahim Pehlivanoğlu, President of the Tekirdağ Süleymanpaşa Fisheries Cooperative, told reporters that the northeasterly wind has been negatively affecting fishermen's hunting in recent weeks.

Stating that fishermen are forced to perform net maintenance at the port, Pehlivanoğlu said, "With the strong northeasterly wind that has started in the Sea of Marmara, our fellow fishermen are spending their time repairing their nets. They say the storm will increase in intensity until next Monday. Hopefully, after the weather improves, our fishermen will continue their activities with hopes for bonito and bluefish."

In the city, where the air temperature is measured at 14 degrees, the northeasterly wind is expected to be effective for 3 days.
