Optimar Research: Bahçeli's handshake with DEM Party divides public opinion!

According to the latest poll by the Optimar Research Company, a large portion of the public views MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli's handshake with DEM Party members as a "political necessity." On October 1, the day the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) opened, MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli walked over to the DEM Party benches and shook hands with their deputies, bringing a potential 'new peace process' to the agenda.

Following this, Bahçeli called on Abdullah Öcalan, who is held in Imralı Prison, to address Parliament and requested that he benefit from the right to hope.

Optimar Research, which is close to the government, asked the public about Bahçeli's 'handshake'.

According to the survey, the responses to the question "How did you find Bahçeli shaking hands with DEM members?" are as follows:

25.8 percent: Political necessity

18.9 percent: Shocking

16.4 percent: Sad

15.9 percent: Constructive

13.2 percent: Sincere

9.8 percent: A requirement of patriotism

While 25.4 percent of participants said "There is a Kurdish issue in Turkey," 66.3 percent said "There is no Kurdish issue."

While 37.4 percent stated that a new process has begun, 45 percent answered this question with "no."

To the question "Which method do you find more appropriate for the resolution of the Kurdish issue?" 28 percent answered 'Dialogue and negotiation'.

Those who said 'New peace process' were 20.1 percent, while those who said 'Military intervention' were 16.8 percent.

According to Hürriyet columnist Hande Fırat, 27.5 percent of those who participated in the survey said that the appointment of a trustee to replace Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer was "definitely the right decision."

The rate of those who said "wrong" was 20.8 percent.
