Prof. Dr. Duran Bülbül announced the expected minimum wage increase rate: He pointed to that figure by citing 'real inflation'
12punto columnist and economist Prof. Dr. Duran Bülbül made notable statements regarding inflation, the minimum wage, and pensions following the release of inflation data by TURKSTAT and ENAG.
TURKSTAT announced the inflation rate for October. Accordingly, the monthly inflation rate was 2.88 percent, while the annual inflation rate was 48.58 percent.
Speaking on Yorum12, broadcast on 12puntotv, 12punto columnist and economist Prof. Dr. Duran Bülbül answered Beste Çelik's questions.
'INFLATION IS HIGHER THAN ENAG'S'
Stating that the government "is not disclosing the real inflation," Prof. Dr. Bülbül said, "One of the most fundamental reasons for reporting it low is that they are applying the same system they have used for years."
Bülbül also pointed out that inflation is even higher than the rate announced by ENAG, stating, "The inflation rate is 98 percent in real terms. It is even above ENAG's data."
FIGHTING IN 3 STEPS
Prof. Dr. Bülbül stated that inflation must be fought in 3 steps and listed them as follows:
"As long as the political power cannot prevent waste and corruption in the public sector, you cannot lower inflation. It is necessary to re-establish and reactivate democracy. Law and justice must be restored."
'THE NAME OF THE REVALUATION RATE IS INFLATION'
"If you really want to lower inflation and encourage foreign investment, if what I just listed is not done, investment will not come and what exists will leave," said Prof. Dr. Bülbül, drawing attention to the revaluation rate.
Prof. Dr. Bülbül said, "The name of the revaluation rate is inflation," and stated that the revaluation rate should be taken as a basis for the raise in January.
GAVE A FIGURE FOR MINIMUM WAGE
Drawing attention to the inflation announced by TURKSTAT, Prof. Dr. Bülbül said, "It means that wages will be below 48 percent. This will bring further impoverishment. The minimum wage will be around 30 percent."
Prof. Dr. Bülbül noted that the raise to be made to the minimum wage would be around 5 thousand TL, while regarding the minimum wage that should be, he said, "The minimum wage should not fall below 34 thousand TL."
HOW MUCH WILL THE PENSION BE?
Stating that even a 100 percent raise would not save retirees, Bülbül said that the base pension would be around 16 thousand liras, but that the required wage should be 34 thousand liras.
