Protests in three major cities for detained BirGün employees: 'We stand with our colleagues'

BirGün executives were detained on the grounds that they reported on the Sabah newspaper's visit to Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek. The visit in question had already been reported by the Sabah newspaper itself. Koç, Gültekin, and Gökdemir are being accused of "Targeting Individuals Involved in Counter-Terrorism."

Press professional organizations, unions, political party representatives, and BirGün readers, reacting to the detentions, will gather today at 15:00 at Şişhane Square. A statement will be made at the gathering against the unlawful detentions.
