Reflections of love in art become an exhibition: Which exhibitions are at Blackbox in February?

BlackBox, the event venue of the Türkiye İş Bankası Painting and Sculpture Museum, continues its conversations on art history, painting, and urban memory in February, while also tracing love stories on canvases, in literary works, and on the opera stage.

AYŞEGÜL IN THE 20TH CENTURY

Art critic and writer Ayşegül Sönmez, who covers the most influential art movement of a different decade each month in the seminars titled 'Ayşegül in the 20th Century', will discuss the art understanding of the 1950s in light of the works at the Türkiye İş Bankası Painting and Sculpture Museum on Sunday, February 2, at 14:00.

GÜL İREPOĞLU NARRATES

The “Gül İrepoğlu Narrates” conferences continue to tell stories inspired by the “Taste and Art: Delicious Paintings” exhibition of the Türkiye İş Bankası Painting and Sculpture Museum.

On Saturday, February 8, at 14:00, the conference titled 'LOVES Experienced on Canvas' will address loves reflected on canvas from the imagination or lived experiences of painters.

This comprehensive and colorful topic will be discussed with examples from the history of world and Turkish painting.

ISTANBUL MEMORY

The guest of this month's 'Istanbul Memory' event, which brings together artists and writers who live and produce in Istanbul and inspire the city and its people with their works, is the successful actress Vildan Atasever.

The event, where culture and arts journalist Bahar Çuhadar talks about the most inspiring corners of Istanbul with a different guest each month and explores the contributions of artistic productions to the memory of this city, will be held on Tuesday, February 18, at 14:00.

THROUGH THE EYES OF ACQUAINTANCES

In the 'Through the Eyes of Acquaintances' event, which focuses on the lives, sources of inspiration, and iconic works of master names of Turkish painting, painter Şeref Bigalı will be discussed on Thursday, February 20, at 14:00.

We will discover Şeref Bigalı, who drew his inspiration from the details in the simple, unpretentious, yet most real scenes of life, through the eyes of his son, Ahmet Bigalı.

BEHIND THE CURTAIN OF OPERA

The Giuseppe Verdi operas series begins in 'Behind the Curtain of Opera'. In the event to be held on Sunday, February 23, at 14:00, the opera La Traviata, based on Alexander Dumas' novel The Lady of the Camellias, will be discussed.

Art lovers will follow the story of this immortal melodrama, which tells of the conflict between true love and human emotions with the moral values of society, accompanied by the narration of opera director Figen Ayhan and the performances of Istanbul State Opera and Ballet artists.

BACK COVER

The 'Back Cover' event, where important works of Turkish and world literature are discussed under the moderation of journalist Emrah Kolukısa, will cover James Joyce's Dubliners on Tuesday, February 25, at 14:00.

The book, which masterfully handles the social and emotional blockage of a society based on the daily lives of ordinary people, will be examined in a pleasant literary conversation where author and translator Fuat Sevimay will be the guest.
