Rojin's father speaks out: DNA belonging to 2 men found on her body

Striking statements have emerged regarding the death of university student Rojin Kabaiş, whose body was found 18 days after she went missing in Van.

Rojin's father, Nizamettin Kabaiş, said that as a result of the autopsy performed by the Council of Forensic Medicine, DNA samples belonging to two men were detected on his daughter's body. Kabaiş stated, "DNA samples were taken from 47 people and they did not match. However, DNA samples belonging to 2 different men were found. If they find them, this matter will be solved."

Rojin Kabaiş was a first-year student in the Child Development Department at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University's Faculty of Education. On September 27, after dinner, Rojin left the dormitory and never returned. Her friends, unable to reach her by phone, applied to the police the next day.

Investigations determined that Rojin had planned to go to the shores of Lake Van on September 27 to collect pebbles, and that she had received a negative response from a friend regarding this.

One day after Rojin went missing, on September 28, her phone, headphones, cake, and water were found on the shore of Lake Van. As a result of the search efforts that were immediately launched, Rojin's body was found 18 days later in the Mollakasım neighborhood of the Tuşba district, 24 kilometers away from the Yüzüncü Yıl University shore. The body was sent to the Council of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy.

Rojin's father, Nizamettin Kabaiş, pointed out that there were signs of battery on his daughter's body, saying, "Rojin did not commit suicide; she was murdered and beaten. Her body was left there. Let no one say 'She committed suicide' or 'She drowned in the water'." He also stated that on the 13th day of the search, Rojin's headscarf was left on the shore, and he claimed that this was done to cover up the traces after the beating.

Kabaiş alleged that the police did not show sufficient effort during the search and that some houses were not searched. Stating, "Yes, the villages were visited, but the houses were not searched," Kabaiş then made statements regarding the results of the DNA tests. Kabaiş expressed that the DNA samples found on the body indicate that there are other people behind Rojin's death and that the murder will be solved once the people who left these samples are found.

Stating that Rojin spoke with her roommate twice on the day she went missing, Kabaiş relayed that in her last phone conversation before she disappeared, Rojin told her friend, "If you have come, bring my charger too." Calling on the authorities, Kabaiş said, "Let us find Rojin's killers as soon as possible so that other Rojins do not go missing."
