Sardines caught in the nets of Kocaeli fishermen during the first catch of the season
The nets of fishermen from Kocaeli, who said "vira bismillah" (in the name of God) as the fishing ban was lifted, were filled with sardines.
Fishermen set sail as the hunting ban was lifted.
The first catch of the season brought an abundance of sardines in Kocaeli.
After the ceremony held in the Karamürsel district, Ali Abanoz departed from Ereğli Port on a 38-meter purse seiner, crossed the Gulf of İzmit, and cast his nets into the sea off the coast of Yalova.
The boat's 25-person crew collected the nets filled with fish in approximately 2 hours.
Fishermen, who sorted the fish by species and size before filling them into crates, brought 1,000 crates of sardines ashore at the Yalova Dereağzı fish landing point and dispatched them to the Bursa and Karamürsel Ereğli fish markets using refrigerated vehicles.
Experiencing the joy of making the season's first catch, fishermen continued their hunt in the Sea of Marmara.
