A new development has occurred regarding the woman who lost her life after eating a baked potato at a shop in the Buca district of İzmir.

An investigation was launched following a complaint by the family of Servet Polat, who experienced health problems after eating a baked potato at a shop in Buca on December 28, 2024, was subsequently hospitalized, and passed away at home shortly after being discharged.

Within the scope of the investigation initiated by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was determined that other individuals who ate baked potatoes at N.D.'s business also applied to hospitals showing symptoms of poisoning.

The relevant authorities have also taken the statements of the other poisoned individuals.

Following the collection of statements, law enforcement officers detained the business owner, N.D.

After the procedures at the police station, the suspect was referred to the courthouse and arrested by the Duty Magistrate's Court on charges of causing death by negligence.

It was reported that the examination of samples taken to determine the exact cause of death and the autopsy report work for Servet Polat, who was found dead in her home, are ongoing at the İzmir Forensic Medicine Institute.

In the initial examination of samples taken from the ingredients used in food preparation at the business by the İzmir Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture and crime scene investigation teams, salmonella bacteria were found.

It was reported that the investigation is being conducted meticulously and from multiple angles.
