Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 specifications revealed: Qualcomm's AI move!
Qualcomm's newest weapon in the high-end mobile processor race, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, has begun to dominate the agenda even before its official launch. According to the latest leaks, the processor is posing a serious threat to its competitors not only with its raw power but also with its artificial intelligence capabilities.
According to reports from Donanımhaber, some specifications of the highly anticipated Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 have been leaked ahead of its launch.
COMPLETELY PERFORMANCE-FOCUSED
The new generation Snapdragon is being brought to life using TSMC’s advanced 3nm N3P manufacturing process. This time, Qualcomm appears to have opted for an architecture focused more on power than efficiency.
Coming with the Oryon Gen 2 core architecture, the processor leaves energy-efficient cores behind with its structure consisting of two high-performance "prime" cores and six powerful cores.
Based on the ARMv9 architecture, the structure also supports next-generation instruction sets such as SME 1 and SVE2.
A MAJOR LEAP IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: 100 TOPS
The most striking aspect of the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is the developments in its Hexagon NPU unit. The new chip features an artificial intelligence engine capable of performing 100 trillion operations per second (TOPS). This level represents an increase of nearly twofold compared to the 45 TOPS value offered by the previous model.
CHALLENGING COMPETITORS WITH GRAPHICS POWER
Coming with the Adreno 840 GPU on the graphics side, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is supported by an L2 cache that has been increased by 33%.
Thanks to this, it is expected to offer higher performance in both games and graphics-intensive applications.
WHICH PHONES WILL IT FEATURE IN FIRST?
It is rumored that the processor will first be used in flagship models such as the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and Xiaomi 16. However, all eyes are still turned to another question: Will the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 be a real alternative to Apple’s A19 processor?
The answer to this question and more will become clear at the Snapdragon Summit event that Qualcomm will hold in the coming months.
