Striking claim from Ahmet Çakar about Atilla Karaoğlan: 'They called him on FaceTime so it wouldn't be recorded'

Following the Trabzonspor - Fenerbahçe match, former referee and football commentator Ahmet Çakar made striking statements on Beyaz TV.

Çakar stated that there is a structure within the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) and that these individuals are referees.

'THEY CALLED ATILLA KARAOĞLAN AT HALFTIME'

Making striking allegations regarding the match's VAR referee Atilla Karaoğlan, Ahmet Çakar noted the following:

"Atilla Karaoğlan is one of the most important men within this structure, and his refereeing career should be ended! Today, the first half ended and they went into the locker room. Someone called Atilla Karaoğlan, either via FaceTime or WhatsApp, so that it wouldn't be wiretapped.

He fixed the situation! Atilla Karaoğlan tried to fix the situation, but he made a mess of it!"

"WHO IS THIS REFEREE? YOU FIND OUT"

Stating that a referee's name was mentioned in the Match-Fixing Conspiracy case that emerged in 2011 but that this name was removed from the wiretap transcripts, Ahmet Çakar said, "Everyone was taken into investigation at that time, not a single referee was investigated, why?"

Çakar continued his words as follows:

"In 2011, a referee's name was mentioned in the wiretaps. However, it was removed one by one. All of the referee's conversations were filtered out. This person was a referee who officiated important matches at that time. If I were a doctor and quit medicine after the 'Newborn Gang' scandal broke, what would you think?

Two months later, he quit refereeing, and then he quit his profession too! These things happened in July. Who is the person who quit refereeing and then his civil service position in September-October, saying 'Mehmet Ali Aydınlar did not invite me to his son's wedding'? I won't give a name, you find out."

'HIS WHISTLE MUST BE HUNG UP'

Stating that Atilla Karaoğlan's whistle must be hung up, Çakar said, "There are some former referees at the head of this structure. I don't know who their boss is. They bring and take away referees. They bring and take away the Central Referee Board (MHK). They bring and take away the TFF. For the sake of setting an example, Atilla Karaoğlan's whistle must be hung up! Otherwise, I will be against you all collectively."
