Striking details regarding the newborn baby gang! They hid patients during inspections

Details of the simultaneous inspection of the hospitals where members of the organization operated also emerged in the indictment in the “newborn gang” case.

The Health Ministry planned the inspection in strict secrecy. To prevent any information from leaking, the names of the hospitals were given in envelopes to the people who would carry out the inspection on the morning of the day it was to take place.

According to Hürriyet, Cansu Akyıldırım, who worked as a nurse at TRG Hospitalist Hospital, called Mehmet Gürül, who also worked as a pediatrician at the same hospital, and said, “They have come for an inspection, send the outsiders away immediately,” asking him to send away the employees she referred to as “outsiders” — staff who did not have the necessary equipment and documents to be present in the neonatal intensive care unit and whose official positions were at other hospitals. 

Tuğba Kaya, who called Çağla Durmuş, said that during the inspection at Medilife Hospital, where she worked as an “outsider,” Dr. Mehmet told her “leave the area”, after which she fled to the medicine room and hid there until the inspection was over. In an SGK query, it was determined that Tuğba Kaya had no record there; that she had left Medilife health services on January 31, 2023; and that she was unlawfully caring for patients on the date of the inspection.

THEY TOOK EXTRA PATIENTS OUT OF THE AREA AND HID THEM

Medilife Hospital secretary Sümeyye Özdemir called organization manager İlker Gönen and said the number of patients in the area did not match the number registered in the system; that when the inspection arrived, they took the extra patients out of the area and hid them; that she corrected the number by manipulating the screen through medical accounting; and that a sick baby who needed to be treated in intensive care was taken to an unspecified area for the duration of the inspection so the hospital would not have problems.

Mehmet Gürül, a doctor at TRG Hospital, in a conversation with Mehmet Halis Başli, a nurse at TRG Hospitalist and Bağcılar Şafak Hospital, asked for all digital images of the chest X-rays of patients who had been shown as intubated for a long time to be deleted so that it would not emerge that the babies had been deliberately kept in intensive care and had been intubated unlawfully.
