The Communiqué on Supporting Small-Scale Fisheries, prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, has been published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.
The communiqué regulates the procedures and principles regarding the support to be provided to fishing vessel owners in the coming year and in 2026, with the aim of collecting data on hunting, fishing activities, and socioeconomic factors, as well as ensuring the sustainable management of small-scale fisheries in marine and inland waters.
The statement issued by the Ministry also provided information regarding the support to be provided.
Accordingly, in the support program that includes fishing vessels under 12 meters operating in the seas and those in inland waters, unit support amounts based on vessel length have been increased by between 43 percent and 100 percent compared to 2024. Within this scope, unit support amounts for the coming year have been set at a minimum of 5 thousand liras and a maximum of 12 thousand liras.
In addition, positive discrimination was applied to female fishers. Within this scope, the support in question will be paid to female fishers at a rate 35 percent higher, with a minimum of 6 thousand 700 liras and a maximum of 16 thousand 200 liras.
It is important for fishermen who wish to benefit from the support to closely follow the announcements published by the Ministry.
On the other hand, the Ministry stated that supporting the small-scale fishing sector and ensuring its sustainability are among its top priorities, while noting that efforts to enable fishermen to have more efficient and productive catches are ongoing.
