Surprise snow warning from the Istanbul Governor's Office! Starting from Tuesday...

Air temperatures have fallen below seasonal norms. According to the statement made by the General Directorate of Meteorology, the precipitation currently seen as rain and showers in Thrace will give way to sleet and snow in the inland parts of Edirne, Kırklareli, and Tekirdağ starting from the night hours.

WARNING OF ICING AND FROST

Since the snowfall is expected to be locally heavy in high areas above 200-300 meters in altitude, citizens are urged to be careful and take precautions against disruptions in transportation, icing, frost, and blizzards.

Cold air of Siberian origin will enter Thrace via the Balkans towards Monday morning. While temperatures in Istanbul are expected to drop to 0 degrees on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights, a surprise snowfall is expected.

The surprise snow warning issued by the Istanbul Governor's Office included the following statements:

''On Tuesday, April 8, rain and sleet are expected in the eastern part of the region, in Istanbul, Kocaeli, Sakarya, and Yalova.

It is necessary to follow the forecasts, meteorological evaluations, and early warnings of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change's General Directorate of Meteorology against potential snowfall, icing, frost, and agricultural frost events."
