Teacher Mehmet İzdal, martyred by the terrorist organization PKK, commemorated at his graveside

The ceremony held at the martyr teacher İzdal's grave in the district cemetery was attended by his family, District Director of National Education Ali Musa Bina, and fellow teachers.

During the commemoration ceremony, the Quran was recited, and prayers were offered for the martyred teacher.

"I AM HAPPY TO SERVE HERE"

Ümit Atacan, the principal of the school named after the martyr, stated in his speech that he is happy to serve at the school that bears İzdal's name.

"HE WAS A BEACON OF LIGHT FOR HIS STUDENTS"

Reading İzdal's biography, Atacan said, "After his first post in Konya, he went to his second post in the Gevaş district of Van. Here, he became an exemplary teacher who shone a light on his students and worked wholeheartedly for their education.

"THE MARTYRED TEACHER'S NAME WAS GIVEN TO TWO SCHOOLS IN THE COUNTRY"

He was martyred in a treacherous terrorist attack in Gevaş, where he was serving, on October 24, 1993. Today, his name has been given to a school in our district and another school in Gevaş, Van," he said.

Those attending the ceremony then placed carnations on the martyred teacher's grave.

"HE WAS MARTYRED WHEN HE WAS ONLY 26 YEARS OLD"

Mehmet İzdal was martyred by the terrorist organization PKK on October 24, 1993, at the age of 26, just 50 days after arriving at his second post in the Gevaş district of Van, where he had been appointed as a primary school teacher.
