On the air since 1989 and having become one of the longest-running series in the television world, The Simpsons continues to captivate its audience with its 36th season. According to the episode summary, "Lisa discovers that the founder of Springfield was a murderous pirate who tried to assassinate George Washington, and she decides that the townspeople need to know the truth".

Instead of the episode, a Season 30 episode titled "Baby You Can't Drive My Car," which follows Marge and Homer Simpson working together at a tech company that produces self-driving cars, was aired.
