The "complete tasks and earn money" trap, which is among the frauds carried out via WhatsApp and Telegram, continues to victimize thousands of people.

According to a report by Barış Şimşek from Sabah Trend, scammers create the perception that citizens can earn money from the comfort of their homes by commenting on movies online, commenting on products on e-commerce platforms, following social media accounts they specify and liking posts, or watching videos or advertisements.

These fraudsters, who then obtain the personal information and bank account details of the citizens they have lured into their trap, initially gain their trust by sending them small amounts, such as 200 TL, a few times.

Citizens are then told by these individuals that they need to move to a higher level to earn up to 5 thousand TL per day, but that they must deposit an amount like 20 thousand TL into the system as collateral to do so.

While no further payments are made to those who accept this and deposit money, a new fee is demanded from those who want to recover their money under the guise of taxes.

As the losses of the person who sends this fee continue to increase, it has been learned that dozens of people are defrauded this way every day.

Security units warn that such offers should absolutely not be accepted.

In this fraud method carried out via social media, the scammers, who cover their tracks by circulating the money coming into their accounts among the victims, then transfer this money abroad as cryptocurrency.

The scammers also send a link to the WhatsApp accounts of people they realize they can no longer get money from, under the lie that a refund can be made. The phones of those who open this fake link are compromised.

Through this method, the citizen's banking transactions, personal conversations, photos and videos, and all information saved in their contacts fall into the hands of the scammers.

While the Ministry of Trade has warned citizens many times before against fraud methods, it stated that one should be especially careful against such traps that are presented as "opportunities" and accepted as a method of making easy money.

It is estimated that hundreds of people have been defrauded using this method.
