Transfer to the National Team from Germany: Deal complete
The Turkish National Football Team is adding a German-based player from Stuttgart to its squad.
The Turkish National Football Team is preparing to add Stuttgart's expatriate captain Atakan Karazor to its squad.
The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has successfully completed the procedures ensuring the 27-year-old defensive midfielder's eligibility to be selected for the national team. Awaiting an invitation from Vincenzo Montella, Karazor is now very close to wearing the Crescent-Star jersey.
As a result of the efforts carried out by the TFF, the citizenship procedures for the 1.91-meter-tall footballer were finalized in September.
According to a report by Sabah newspaper, the expatriate footballer will be able to take the field in the A National Team jersey for the matches against Montenegro and Iceland in October, should Montella invite him to the national team.
Atakan Karazor was one of his team's most effective players, staying on the pitch for the full 90 minutes in the Champions League match against Real Madrid.
Karazor, who transferred from Kiel to Stuttgart at the beginning of the 2019-20 season for 800 thousand euros, has a market value of 12 million euros according to Transfermarkt data.
Atakan Karazor is expected to play an important role in the national team, particularly with his strong physicality in midfield and his tactical awareness. If Montella includes him in the squad for the matches in October, he will wear the national jersey for Turkey for the first time.
