Trump issues ultimatum over Greenland and the Panama Canal! Is the US entering a new trade war?

Trump, who delivered one of the longest presidential speeches in Congressional history with a duration of 1 hour and 38 minutes, stated that he has taken significant steps since the first day of his second presidential term, which began on January 20. While he received enthusiastic support from Republicans throughout his speech, Democrats showed their reaction by remaining silent. Trump argued that he had accomplished more in his first 43 days in office than many previous US administrations.

Reiterating the US claim over Greenland once again, Trump said, "We will obtain Greenland one way or another."

Addressing the people of Greenland, Trump stated, "We will keep you safe, we will make you rich, and together we will take Greenland to heights you never thought possible before."

Emphasizing that Greenland is a critical point for international security, Trump said, "We are working with everyone involved to obtain it. But we really need Greenland for international security, for world security, and I think we will get it. One way or another, we will get it."

WHY IS TRUMP INSISTENT ON THE PANAMA CANAL?

Drawing attention to the importance of the Panama Canal for the US, Trump said, "We are going to take back the Panama Canal. The Panama Canal was built by Americans for Americans. 38 thousand American workers lost their lives. It was the most expensive project in our history. We didn't give it to China, we had given it to Panama, and we are taking it back."

DID TRUMP SET A DATE FOR AN ECONOMIC WAR?

Touching on trade policies in his speech, Trump announced that reciprocal tariffs would come into effect on April 2. Signaling that they would further intensify trade wars, he said, "I don't want to play an April Fool's joke, but after April 2, reciprocal customs duties will go into effect. Whatever tariff they apply to us, we will apply to them. Whatever tax they collect from us, we will collect from them. If they apply non-monetary tariffs to keep us out of their markets, we will apply non-monetary barriers to keep them out of our markets."

Stating that customs duties would also be applied to agricultural products, Trump said, "There might be a bit of an adjustment period."

BOASTED ABOUT HIS ACHIEVEMENTS

Emphasizing that the American people are satisfied with the country's direction, Trump said, "For the first time in modern history, most Americans believe our country is heading in the right direction rather than the wrong one."

Reminding of the importance he places on border security, Trump said, "On my first day in office, I declared a national emergency at our southern border and tasked the US military to counter the invasion of our country. As a result, illegal border crossings dropped to their lowest level last month."

He also recalled that they have withdrawn from the Paris Climate Agreement, the World Health Organization, and the UN Human Rights Council.
