Turkey's poorest cities revealed: The city in the top spot has changed!

High inflation, which has taken hold of the Turkish economy, is causing millions of citizens to struggle with the cost of living.

The limited increase in wages for retirees and employees is causing the persistent poverty rate to rise every year.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) stated in its 'Poverty and Living Conditions Statistics' report shared today that the persistent poverty rate increased by 0.7 points to 13.7 percent.

HERE ARE TURKEY'S POOREST CITIES

The most striking part of the report was the list of Turkey's poorest cities.

In the report, the regions with the highest income-based relative poverty rate were the Kırıkkale, Aksaray, Niğde, Nevşehir, and Kırşehir regions at 14.6%.

In the report published last year, Turkey's poorest cities were the provinces of Kastamonu, Çankırı, and Sinop.

CITIES WITH THE LEAST POVERTY

On the other hand, the report also included the cities with the lowest poverty rates.

The regions with the lowest relative poverty rates were the regions containing the cities of Gaziantep, Adıyaman, and Kilis at 4.7%, and the cities of Şanlıurfa and Diyarbakır at 6.4%.
