Turkey's top 20 universities announced! Which school is at the top?

The University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) Research Laboratory, located within the Middle East Technical University (METU) Informatics Institute, has ranked Turkey's best universities.

In the "2024-2025 Turkey Ranking," Koç University ranked first among universities with medical schools, while METU ranked first among universities without medical schools.

The "2024-2025 Turkey Ranking" by METU URAP, one of the authorized organizations that conduct university rankings globally, was announced on its website "https://newtr.urapcenter.org".

Data published by Clarivate Analytics/InCites and the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) were used in the "2024-2025 Turkey Ranking," which ranks the academic performance of universities.

While 9 indicators have been used in the URAP Turkey ranking since 2009, this number has increased to 15 in the last 2 years. The ranking includes indicators such as the number of articles per faculty member, citations, total scientific documents, international collaborative articles, domestic collaborative articles, the number of projects received from TÜBİTAK, and the ratio of articles, citations, and doctoral students.

METU AND KOÇ UNIVERSITY ARE FIRST

A total of 190 universities were included in the lists of URAP's "2024-2025 Turkey Ranking," which were divided into two separate categories: universities with medical schools and universities without medical schools.

METU ranked first among universities without medical schools. METU was followed by ITU, Sabancı, Yıldız Technical, Gebze Technical, Bilkent, Boğaziçi, İzmir Institute of Technology, Çankaya, and Eskişehir Technical universities.

Koç University ranked first among universities with medical schools. This university was followed by Hacettepe, Ankara, Istanbul, Gazi, Istanbul-Cerrahpaşa, Ege, Atatürk, Marmara, and Erciyes universities. With these results, METU and Koç University maintained their top positions just as they did last year.

KOÇ UNIVERSITY LEADS IN GENERAL RANKING

In URAP's general ranking for Turkey, Koç University ranked first again this year, just as it did last year, while Hacettepe ranked second and METU ranked third. The ranking following the top three universities is as follows:
