With this achievement, Sönmez climbed 36 spots in the women's singles rankings to reach 91st place, setting a career record. Sönmez became the second Turkish tennis player to celebrate a singles title at a WTA tournament, following Çağla Büyükakçay.
Unable to hold back her tears and experiencing great joy after the most important championship of her career, the Turkish tennis player said in her statement at the awards ceremony, "This was one of my biggest dreams. I have been working for 15 years to achieve this success. I am here now, and this means so much to me. I would like to thank everyone who supported me, especially my family."
