Turkish tennis player Zeynep Sönmez makes history in Mexico!

 National tennis player Zeynep Sönmez faced American Ann Li in the final of the WTA 250 event held in Mexico. Our 22-year-old tennis player won the match, which lasted 1 hour and 10 minutes, with sets of 6-2 and 6-1 to secure her first WTA title.

Zeynep Sönmez faced Ann Li in the final of the Merida Open Women's Tennis Tournament, a WTA 250 event held in Mexico.

Sönmez defeated Ann Li 2-0 in the final to become the champion.

Sönmez achieved the first WTA 250 title of her career by defeating her opponent with sets of 6-2 and 6-1.

CAREER RECORD

With this achievement, Sönmez climbed 36 spots in the women's singles rankings to reach 91st place, setting a career record. Sönmez became the second Turkish tennis player to celebrate a singles title at a WTA tournament, following Çağla Büyükakçay.

Unable to hold back her tears and experiencing great joy after the most important championship of her career, the Turkish tennis player said in her statement at the awards ceremony, "This was one of my biggest dreams. I have been working for 15 years to achieve this success. I am here now, and this means so much to me. I would like to thank everyone who supported me, especially my family."
