TUSAŞ veteran hit by 4 bullets speaks from his hospital bed: 'As soon as I get out of here...'

Terme, Samsun Mayor Şenol Kul visited 25-year-old İlker Şahin, a native of Terme, Samsun, who was wounded by 4 bullets hitting various parts of his body during the terrorist attack on Turkish Aerospace Industries in Ankara, at the Sincan Training and Research Hospital where he was taken. Mayor Kul, who received information about the treatment from hospital officials, also chatted with the veteran's father, Mustafa Şahin, and his family, asking if they had any needs.

Recounting the moments of the treacherous attack to Mayor Kul, Veteran Şahin said, “I work as a technician at TUSAŞ. It was our shift change time; they suddenly started attacking as we were leaving work.

With the sound of gunfire, those in front of me fell to the ground. I had been shot in the leg at that moment, but I didn't feel it due to the heat of the event.

Later, they took me to the hospital by ambulance. 4 bullets hit my body; they removed 3 of them, but they left one in my leg because it was very close to the nerves. They cannot intimidate us with such treacherous attacks. We will continue to produce for our homeland. As soon as I get out of here, I will return to my job and continue working for my country,” he said.

Mayor Kul, who conveyed his get-well wishes to the veteran, said, “We had met with our veteran in our district in recent weeks. As soon as I learned he was wounded, I came to visit him in the hospital. Our veteran is very resilient and sends his greetings to Terme. 

I wish God's mercy upon our martyrs who lost their lives in the treacherous terrorist attack on our apple of the eye, TUSAŞ's Ankara Kahramankazan facilities, where the precious children raised by our country work, and I wish a speedy recovery to our wounded from the Lord. My condolences to our dear nation,” he stated.

As a result of the treacherous terrorist attack on TUSAŞ located in the Kahramankazan district, 5 people were martyred and 22 people were wounded.
