Following the conclusion of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced that boxing has been removed from the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Boxing was the sport that brought Turkey the most medals in Paris.

According to a report by UNILAD, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced that boxing will not be included in the program for the 2028 Olympics.

It has been stated that the reason for boxing's removal from the Olympic program stems from financial and administrative issues between the IOC and the International Boxing Association (IBA).

The IOC ceased its recognition of the IBA in 2023 and took over the organization of the boxing tournament for the 2024 Paris Olympics, removing it from the IBA's control.

The IOC criticized the IBA's decision to distribute prize money and its lack of financial transparency, stating that boxing will not be included in the 2028 Games.

While it was reported that a final decision will be made in 2025, it was also noted that there is a possibility for boxing, which has been removed from the 2028 Olympics for now, to return.

While this decision has disappointed boxing enthusiasts, boxing was among the areas where Turkey won the most medals. Three of the 8 medals Turkey won in Paris came from boxing.

Among the athletes competing for Turkey in boxing at Paris 2024, Buse Naz Çakıroğlu achieved a silver medal, Esra Yıldız Kahraman a bronze medal, and Hatice Akbaş a silver medal.
