Social media giant Instagram has released a series of new features to increase user interaction via Direct Messages (DM). One of the features that users frequently use on WhatsApp will now also be available on Instagram.

LIVE LOCATION CAN BE SHARED

The most notable one is live location sharing. Users will now be able to share their live location for up to 1 hour via DM. At the same time, they will be able to easily determine meeting points with their friends by setting a location on the map within Instagram.

HOW WILL LIVE LOCATION SHARING WORK?

Live location sharing is said to be a feature developed by Instagram specifically to provide convenience at crowded events or meetings.

Users will be able to allow their friends to follow them in real-time by sharing their live location via DM.

Designed with security in mind, this feature is disabled by default and can only be shared with people in the chat.

WHAT ARE CUSTOM NICKNAMES?

Another new feature is custom nicknames for DMs. Users will be able to personalize their chats by giving custom nicknames to their friends or themselves.

These nicknames will only appear in DMs and will not affect the Instagram username.

NEW STICKER PACKS HAVE ARRIVED?

Instagram is also adding new sticker packs for DM messages.

Users can add their favorite stickers to their favorites and create their own stickers.
