Who is Alper Yılmaz? Has he left Anadolu Efes? Who will replace him?

Anadolu Efes Sports Club General Manager Alper Yılmaz has announced that he is leaving his position at the Navy-White team.

In a statement released by Anadolu Efes, the club thanked Yılmaz for his contributions.

Alper Yılmaz continues to serve as the manager for the Turkish National Basketball Team in addition to his work with the Navy-White club.

STATEMENT FROM THE CLUB

'Our General Director, Mr. Alper Yılmaz, has decided to leave our club to serve Turkish basketball in a different capacity.

We extend our endless gratitude to Mr. Yılmaz for his contributions to our club.'

WHO IS Alper Yılmaz?

Alper Yılmaz played for the Anadolu Efes Sports Club for six consecutive years from the 2000-01 season until the end of the 2005-06 season, and returned to the club in August 2009 as the Sports Services Manager. Alper Yılmaz had been serving as the General Director of Anadolu Efes Sports Club since November 2015.

During his playing career at Anadolu Efes Sports Club, Yılmaz experienced four Turkish League championships, three Turkish Cups, and one Presidential Cup victory. He was also part of the team roster during the 2001 EuroLeague Final Four held in Paris, which the team finished in third place.

During his tenure as an executive, Alper Yılmaz celebrated three Turkish League championships, three Turkish Cups, and six Presidential Cups. Additionally, Yılmaz won the EuroLeague championship in 2021 and 2022, and experienced a second-place finish at the 2019 Final Four held in Vitoria.

Yılmaz was also named “Executive of the Year” by the EuroLeague in 2021 and 2022.
