CHP Youth Branch President Cem Aydın was reported in the media to have been detained this morning (January 20, 2025). It was stated that Aydın was taken to the Çağlayan Courthouse and that a search was conducted at his home.

WHY WAS CEM AYDIN DETAINED?

It was alleged that the reason for Aydın's detention was a tweet posted about Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek from the official X account of the CHP Youth Branch. Following the reports, it was learned that Aydın was not detained but was summoned to give a statement.

WHO IS CEM AYDIN?

Cem Aydın was born in Beylikdüzü. Born in 1996, Aydın attended Beylikdüzü Beşir Balcıoğlu Anatolian High School. He then graduated from the Department of International Relations at Istanbul Arel University in 2019.

Aydın announced his candidacy for the CHP Youth Branch Presidency at a press conference at the Headquarters on November 20. He entered the election as the sole candidate at the convention.
