Workers will be very angry at this news! Here is the minimum wage calculation made by Bloomberg... What will Mehmet Şimşek say?
Bloomberg Economist Selva Baziki has announced the minimum wage hike rate they expect, based on calculations made using Turkey's 2025 budget.
Bloomberg economist Selva Baziki calculated how much the minimum wage will be increased according to Turkey's 2025 budget.
In a post on her social media account, Baziki said, "According to our estimates, Turkey's 2025 budget assumes a 17% increase in the minimum wage next year."
Baziki, saying "This also aligns with the year-end 2025 inflation forecast," added: "However, we think a 30% increase is a more likely outcome, pointing to a gradual easing in both inflation and borrowing costs."
IŞIKHAN HAD CITED 'ERDOĞAN' AS AN EXAMPLE
Labor and Social Security Minister Vedat Işıkhan had made statements regarding the minimum wage on Anadolu Agency's Editors' Desk program.
Asked about "the date of the first meeting of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission, how the process will proceed and what the expectations regarding the process are," Minister Işıkhan said the determination of the minimum wage is not something decided by the government alone.
We also have our Minimum Wage Determination Commission to set the minimum wage that will be valid from 2025 onward. We will launch this process at the beginning of December. The commission, which includes representatives of workers, employers and the government, will convene. It will carry out its work for a certain period, and then the process will involve bringing to our agenda the figure they finalize, one that will satisfy both workers and employers, and then making a decision
Of course, as AK Party governments, we always ensure that our workers and employers obtain the maximum benefit in this process, and we continue our efforts in that direction. We will maintain this sensitivity when determining the minimum wage for 2025. When making this decision, the Minimum Wage Determination Commission takes into account the inflation rate and determines this wage by considering our economic growth, the needs of our labor market and the living standards of our citizens. I hope it will be set at a level that will improve living standards and not harm the overall stability and structure of our economy."
Işıkhan noted that they set the minimum wage as a minimum pay level, but employers may also pay wages above that.
