Dr. Sarı, who is alleged to have generated illicit profits by directing newborn babies to contracted hospitals and causing the deaths of 12 babies as a result of his negligent behavior, had participated in a program broadcast on YouTube 10 months ago to make statements on the subject of "Newborns."
According to a report by the Sabah newspaper, Dr. Fırat Sarı, who has become the subject of controversy due to the accusations, made statements about premature babies while the topic of "What is a Newborn?" was being discussed on the program he attended. Answering questions, Dr. Sarı said, "Premature babies are babies born under 37 weeks. In the literature, an average of 40 weeks is expected, but we accept anything under 37 weeks as premature."
INDICTMENT PREPARED
The indictment prepared by the Istanbul Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Organized Crime and Terror Crimes Investigation Bureau included details regarding 47 suspects, 22 of whom are under arrest.
A prison sentence of 177 years and 6 months to 582 years and 9 months has been requested for gang leader Dr. Fırat Sarı for the crimes of "causing death by negligent behavior," "qualified fraud," "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime," and "forgery of official documents."
NEGLIGENCE IN THE SUMMARY OF PROCEEDINGS
A report prepared by the Ministry of Health Inspectorate revealed the negligence occurring in neonatal units.
The report stated that necessary medical services in intensive care units were applied on paper but were not actually performed in reality.
It was stated that 10 babies lost their lives as a result of the absence of neonatal physicians, pediatricians not accepting responsibility, and nurses managing all diagnosis and treatment processes.
NEGLIGENCE LEADING TO THE DEATHS OF BABIES
In the summary of proceedings prepared by the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was explained in detail how Dr. Sarı's negligent behavior led to the deaths of the babies.
It was noted that there were medical deficiencies in the neonatal units, health services were provided inadequately, and pediatricians neglected their duties.
