Postpartum changes: Modern medical solutions and the facts

Concerns women have regarding their bodies have long been a taboo in society that is rarely discussed. However, Dr. Şen emphasizes that physical changes and gynecological complaints experienced after childbirth are nothing to be ashamed of and that these issues should be addressed with modern medicine. Stating that it is a critical step for both their physical and emotional health for women to speak more openly about these matters, Şen makes an important call to raise awareness in society.

Today, many women still feel incomplete when they look in the mirror and struggle to make peace with their bodily changes. Unfortunately, some physical changes and gynecological complaints, especially those experienced after childbirth, are viewed by women as shameful and are left untreated.

WOMEN SHOULD NOT REMAIN SILENT

Şen underscores that these issues must be discussed: “Women should not feel ashamed or remain silent in order to make peace with their bodies. Deformations and discomforts that occur after childbirth are not destiny. Modern medicine offers many safe and effective solutions to these problems.”

PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS

Şen points out that issues such as postpartum vaginal laxity, urinary incontinence, aesthetic deformations, and a decrease in sexual pleasure are conditions experienced by many women that are treatable. However, because these problems are not voiced due to feelings of shame, the chance for treatment is missed.

“Many safe solutions such as vaginoplasty, labiaplasty, laser vaginal rejuvenation, and urinary incontinence treatments are available. These improve women's quality of life while also allowing them to lead a healthy life,” says Şen, calling on women to share these issues openly with their physicians.

LOVE YOUR BODY AND GIVE YOURSELF PERMISSION

Şen expresses that overcoming the feeling of shame women feel toward changes in their bodies is an important revolution: “Childbirth is a miracle, but the changes experienced after childbirth are also natural and normal. Every change you experience in your body is nothing to be ashamed of. Talking about every issue you are having is the first step.”

Stating that women must make peace with their bodies to regain their self-confidence and love themselves, Şen concluded his words by saying, “Women should accept every change in their bodies and give themselves permission for health and beauty. True strength lies in being able to express oneself courageously.”

DO NOT BE ASHAMED TO SPEAK

Şen says that this new approach will break a societal silence and allow women to make their voices heard more strongly regarding their own bodies. “Women should not hesitate to ask for help and should not be ashamed to talk about everything they experience regarding their bodies. As a society, we must support women in taking ownership of their bodies,” he says.
