Seren Serengil expressed a harsh reaction on her social media account toward Orhan Gencebay following his statements regarding the fire tragedy in Bolu.

Regarding the fire tragedy, Gencebay had said, "Our hearts are burning, we are extremely saddened. It is an extremely painful event. May God have mercy on them." Regarding criticisms of the administration concerning the fire, the artist stated, "It is not for us to speak on this matter; we do not know the inside story of the events. Those who govern know better. They all have good intentions. They will try to do what is necessary. There may be negligence, but it is certainly not malicious."

Orhan Gencebay's words drew backlash on social media. Singer Seren Serengil used the following expressions regarding Gencebay's statement:

"Orhan Baba, this public loved you for the upright stance you took in your films. Don't do this, don't destroy that. What do you say in your song; Shame on those who bow to others."
