CHP takes action regarding Yeni Akit's content on Ferdi Zeyrek

Özgür Çelik stated regarding Yeni Akit, which had previously used a scandalous headline reading "Ferdi Zeyrek was shocked," that "Even though we know that impunity will be applied, we will exercise all our legal rights against this dirty journalism, whose name I consider a burden to even mention."

Yeni Akit News Manager Zekeriya Say shared cartoons and images mocking electric shocks and posted insulting messages regarding protesters who were demonstrating against Yeni Akit. Following the backlash, Say deleted his posts shortly after and set his account to private.

CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik also emphasized that the newspaper is committing a crime in public, stating that they will exercise their legal rights.

Özgür Çelik's social media post regarding the matter is as follows:

"A newspaper that has spent years making a special effort to turn our people against one another is committing a crime in public.

While there are journalists and academics being arrested simply for reporting the news and informing the public, not even the slightest investigation is opened into this publication, which is deemed worthy of awards by the highest authorities.

Even though we know that impunity will be applied, we will exercise all our legal rights against this dirty journalism, whose name I consider a burden to even mention.

When we bring this dark era to an end, pens that write the truth will be free, and the approach to journalism that divides our people and sows seeds of hatred and enmity will be consigned to history.

We will succeed together, we will be saved together."
