'Munzur Honey' produced in Tunceli receives geographical indication
'Munzur Honey', produced from a wide variety of flowers and plants grown at high altitudes in Tunceli, has been registered with a geographical indication.
The Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry initiated efforts to have the honey, which has been produced in the city for years, registered.
Evaluating the application, the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office granted a geographical indication to the honey produced in the region under the name "Munzur Honey".
Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Yavuz Suat Pala met with Governor Bülent Tekbıyıkoğlu in his office regarding the registration efforts.
After providing the necessary information, Pala presented the geographical indication registration certificate to Tekbıyıkoğlu.
During the program, Tekbıyıkoğlu stated that beekeeping is widely practiced in Tunceli.
Noting that tons of honey are produced in the region every year, Tekbıyıkoğlu said, "I congratulate everyone who makes an effort to protect and improve quality standards in the production and marketing of Munzur Honey."
