Taste Atlas has determined the 100 best dishes of 2023. Among the dishes selected from all over the world, 8 delicacies from Turkish cuisine made the list, and Turkey secured the 15th spot.

Taste Atlas, the world's most comprehensive database of traditional food, takes into account user votes and expert opinions every year to determine the 100 best dishes in the world.

According to 2023 data, Turkey ranked 15th among the world's best cuisines.

8 delicacies from Turkish cuisine found their place on the list.

The top three are the cuisines of Italy, Japan, and Greece.

8 dishes from Turkish cuisine that entered the Taste Atlas list:

Şiş Kebap: One of the most beloved delicacies of Turkish cuisine, shish kebab is made by skewering lamb, beef, or chicken and cooking it on a grill. Ranking 14th on the list, shish kebab also has different varieties such as Adana, Urfa, and Bursa.

Cağ Kebabı: A famous dish from Erzurum, cağ kebab is made from goat or lamb meat. The meat is cooked on a rotating skewer over a wood fire. Ranking 9th on the list, cağ kebab has also received a geographical indication registration.

Mantı: Mantı, which is made by placing minced meat inside dough and served with yogurt, garlic, melted butter, and red pepper, is one of the most popular pastries in Turkish cuisine. Ranking 22nd on the list, mantı is made in different sizes in various regions such as Kayseri, Ankara, and Konya.

Alinazik: A famous dish from Gaziantep, alinazik is made by placing a minced meat mixture over a sauce made with roasted eggplant, yogurt, and garlic. Ranking 45th on the list, alinazik is both a delicious and nutritious dish.

İskender Kebap: A famous dish from Bursa, İskender kebab is made by placing thinly sliced döner meat over pita bread and serving it with yogurt, melted butter, and tomato sauce. Ranking 39th on the list, İskender kebab also goes by different names such as Bursa kebab and Uludağ kebab.

Döner: One of the most popular dishes in Turkish cuisine, döner is made by cooking meat on a rotating skewer and slicing it thinly. Ranking 49th on the list, döner can be served in different ways, such as in bread, as a wrap, or over rice.

Hünkar Beğendi: One of the most beloved dishes of Ottoman cuisine, Hünkar Beğendi is made by placing lamb meat and tomato sauce over a puree made with roasted eggplant, flour, milk, and cheese. Ranking 75th on the list, Hünkar Beğendi takes its name from Sultan Abdülaziz serving it to the French Empress Eugénie.

Adana Kebap: A famous dish from Adana, Adana kebab is a kebab made from spicy minced meat, skewered, and cooked on a grill. Ranking 81st on the list, Adana kebab is served with onions, parsley, sumac, and lavash bread.
