The ingredients for the dough include margarine, flour, yogurt, vegetable oil, eggs, baking powder, and walnut kernels. Granulated sugar, water, and lemon juice are used for its syrup.
The kalburabastı dessert has pores on its surface because it is "shaped by being pressed onto a sieve (kalbur)," and its name comes from this method of preparation.
