Dermatology specialist Assistant Professor Derya Can stated that cells must work like a factory to obtain energy, repair themselves, grow, and multiply.

Stating that cellular aging is equivalent to tissue or organ aging, Assistant Professor Derya Can noted that by eating a regular and healthy diet, cells produce more energy and accumulate less waste, thereby preventing cell damage and slowing down the aging process.

Stating that some foods we consume help the body age more healthily, Assistant Professor Can listed the foods that protect the body like armor as follows:

“Water: It is what all the cells in our body need most to obtain energy and eliminate waste products. While it ensures the healthy functioning of internal organs such as the brain, liver, kidneys, and heart, it also makes the skin look more vibrant and prevents wrinkles. Consuming at least 2 liters of water a day is the first step to staying young.

Walnuts: One of the best plant-based sources of omega-3. It is an essential food for brain health and maintaining cognitive functions. It helps maintain skin tension while strengthening immunity.

Avocado: Rich in many vitamins and minerals, this food is particularly responsible for eliminating waste products accumulated in cells. As a source of moisture for the skin, this food ensures that the skin wrinkles later and looks radiant.

Green Tea: Its antioxidant effect is quite high. In this respect, in addition to being good for skin diseases, it also prevents the formation of sun- and age-related skin spots.

Apple: Green apples eaten with their skin stimulate collagen activity, delaying sagging, wrinkling, and aging of the skin. It prevents breakage and wear in hair.

Grapes: Resveratrol, especially in grape seeds, is a powerful antioxidant. It is protective against many cancers, such as breast and prostate cancer. It both strengthens our immunity and prevents wrinkles by tightening the skin.

Onion-Garlic: Rich in micronutrients such as B vitamins, selenium, and sulfur. It protects the skin against the harmful effects of the sun. Due to their sulfur content, they are effective foods for cell renewal and ensuring skin tightening.

Tomato: Helps the skin remain smooth.

Dark green vegetables (Spinach, broccoli, lettuce, etc.): The high folic acid they contain ensures the preservation of skin tension and prevents the formation of cellulite.

Berries (especially dark-colored ones like cherries, strawberries, cranberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries): They are very rich in antioxidants, so their anti-aging properties are high. In addition, because they contain plenty of vitamin C, they renew damaged cells and have properties that prevent skin cancer.

Dark chocolate: Cocoa beans contain plenty of antioxidants. However, the refining process applied to chocolates also removes the antioxidants that are good for the skin. For this reason, dark chocolate should be consumed specifically for its anti-aging effect.

Fish: A storehouse of omega-3, fish is a friend to both the heart and the skin. It is particularly good for psoriasis while delaying cell death. Omega-3 is found most in cold-water fish (salmon, tuna, and sardines).

Yogurt: Riboflavin (vitamin B1), which is found especially in the whey of yogurt, has a rejuvenating and skin-renewing effect. Be sure to try to consume yogurt with its whey. Consume milk, yogurt, and ayran, which have high anti-aging properties, frequently.”
