3 people injured in North Macedonia fire to be treated in Turkey

A fire broke out at 03:00 local time at a nightclub in Kočani, located approximately 100 kilometers from the capital Skopje in North Macedonia. The fire, which occurred following the use of pyrotechnics, resulted in 59 deaths and 155 injuries, 22 of which are critical.

The injured were taken to hospitals in various cities, primarily in Skopje.

A statement from the Ministry of Interior indicated that, according to initial findings, there were 500 people in the nightclub, only 250 of whom were ticketed.

NATIONAL MOURNING DECLARED

The North Macedonian Government announced that a 7-day period of national mourning has been declared in the country starting tomorrow due to the fire.

STATEMENT FROM THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH

Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu made a statement regarding those injured in the fire in North Macedonia.

In a post on his X social media account, Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu stated, "We learned with deep sorrow of those who lost their lives and were injured in the fire that occurred in the city of Kočani, North Macedonia.

Following official contacts, we took immediate action. We are transporting 3 injured individuals in critical condition to our Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital via our Ministry's air ambulance for treatment. The patients' treatment will continue at the Burn Center, which is the largest in Europe and operates within our City Hospital.

We will continue to carry out the transfer of new patients for treatment if the need arises.

With our motto of 'Human, First Human,' we stand by the Balkan countries, our region of heart. I wish for a speedy recovery from God and convey my condolences to the people of North Macedonia."
