6th death due to tick bite in Sivas
A 60-year-old individual who fell ill after a tick bite in Tokat has passed away at the hospital where they were being treated for Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF). With this death, the number of people who have lost their lives in Sivas this year due to CCHF has risen to 6.
A.K., a 60-year-old livestock farmer in the village of Poyrazalan in the Artova district of Tokat, sought medical attention at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Hospital complaining of a high fever. After A.K.'s condition worsened four days into treatment, they were transferred to Sivas Cumhuriyet University Hospital.
DIAGNOSED WITH CCHF
Following evaluations at the hospital in Sivas, A.K. was diagnosed with Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF). Despite all interventions by doctors, A.K. passed away while undergoing treatment.
It is alleged that A.K. had removed the tick attached to their body by their own means.
DEATH TOLL RISES TO 6
Following this death, the number of people who have lost their lives in Sivas in 2026 due to CCHF linked to tick bites has reached 6. Authorities continue to issue warnings to be cautious against tick bites and to take necessary precautions against the risk of CCHF.
