With the cooling of the weather, dryness and bumpy appearances have begun to appear on the hands.
According to a new study conducted in the USA, the likelihood of developing eczema increases in regions where air pollution is high.
AIR POLLUTION TRIGGERS ECZEMA
The study, conducted on approximately 300 thousand people, revealed that those exposed to particulate matter (PM 2.5), known as the smallest particles in the air, are more than twice as likely to develop eczema compared to those living in areas with less air pollution.
Experts state that air pollution levels are increasing globally and that the urban population is exposed to high amounts of PM 2.5. The World Health Organization (WHO) also states that approximately 90 percent of people worldwide breathe air containing harmful substances and that pollution affects health in multifaceted ways beyond respiratory problems.
RISKS OF PM 2.5
Experts, who announced that the number of deaths over the age of 30 linked to 'PM 2.5', known as the smallest particles in the air, reached 87 thousand in 2022, say that 40 thousand of these occurred due to cardiovascular diseases and 18 thousand due to respiratory diseases.
