The 'Chips Sticks Paprika Flavored' chips sold at Carrefour are being urgently recalled from the market due to the risk of causing cancer.
The Belgian Food Safety Agency (FAVV) announced that a chip product sold in Carrefour stores is being recalled because it contains high levels of acrylamide. It was stated that the recall covers the 150-gram 'Chips Sticks Paprika Flavored' product under the Carrefour Sensation brand.
The agency emphasized that the chips, which pose a health risk, should absolutely not be consumed and should be returned. It was stated that acrylamide is known as a chemical that can cause cancer and damage DNA according to some scientific studies.

WHAT IS ACRYLAMIDE?
It was stated that acrylamide, which generally forms during the cooking of starch-containing foods at high temperatures (above 120°C), can occur in potato products (e.g., chips, french fries), coffee, biscuits, and bread during processes such as baking, frying, and roasting. The World Health Organization (WHO) has revealed in studies conducted on animals that acrylamide can cause cancer.
