Dancing to legendary ABBA song has positive effects on heart health
According to a new study conducted by Chinese researchers, dancing to ABBA's legendary song "Dancing Queen" can improve heart function.
Scientists from Yan'an University evaluated the effects of dancing to various types of music on the hearts of 160 students. Students were played songs with different tempos, and changes in their heart rhythms were scientifically recorded.
The results of the study showed that ABBA's track "Dancing Queen" stood out in terms of heart health. Experts emphasized that thanks to this song's rhythm of approximately 100 beats per minute (bpm), it allows for movement at a tempo that is neither too fast nor too slow. It was stated that this tempo is more suitable for the heart compared to faster-paced songs like Michael Jackson's "Beat It" or Coldplay's "Viva La Vida".

In the study, it was noted that slow-tempo music does not raise the heart's rhythm to the necessary level, whereas, conversely, very fast tempos could increase the risk of heart attack after exercise. The rhythm of "Dancing Queen" offers an ideal balance to support cardiovascular health.
Scientists also announced that dancing to this song for just 5 minutes a day could create positive effects that are significant for heart health. Reminding that a low heart rate increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, the researchers pointed out that dancing at a moderate tempo could be a practical and fun preventive solution.
The study was published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics. The research team included the following statement in the article:
“Excessively fast rhythms can increase the risk of heart attack after exercise. To minimize the risk of heart attack or sudden cardiac death, the dance rhythm should not exceed 100 beats per minute.”
In conclusion, experts state that short-term dancing at an appropriate tempo is an easy and enjoyable way to protect heart health.
