A family living in Trabzon was poisoned after applying a medication used for animal lice to their faces. The family, who were placed in quarantine at the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Decontamination Unit at the hospital, are reported to be in good condition.
A family living in Trabzon applied medication to protect themselves from animal lice yesterday evening. After applying the medication to their faces, the family members experienced nausea and vomiting upon waking up this morning and reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center.
The father, S.C. (31), mother, F.C. (27), and their children, A.H.C. (1) and T.Y.C. (6), were brought to Kanuni Training and Research Hospital by ambulance, where they were diagnosed with poisoning during initial examinations.
THEY ENDED UP IN QUARANTINE
Due to the poisoning caused by the medication, the family was placed in quarantine in the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Decontamination Unit. As a precautionary measure, the CBRN unit was also placed under quarantine, and security tape was set up in front of the hospital.
Providing information on the family's condition, Kanuni Training and Research Hospital Deputy Chief Physician Op. Dr. Atilla Özenoğlu stated, "Our family applied the medication they had purchased last night because they had previously been experiencing itching on their bodies. This is a medication that should only be applied to the face. It is a medication used against animal lice. The mother, father, and two children applied it to their faces. When they woke up in the morning, they felt malaise, nausea, vomiting, and slight confusion, so the family immediately said, 'Let's go to the emergency room.' Their initial interventions were performed in the emergency department. Their general condition is currently quite good. We are waiting for the results. They will likely be discharged in a short time. The unit has been placed under quarantine. Their general condition is good. Medication should not be taken without consulting a physician. In such cases, it is beneficial to apply to the nearest healthcare institution."
