Food safety crisis at famous meat brand: Products being recalled from markets
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has detected the deadly L. monocytogenes bacteria in a product by Şenpiliç and has ordered the products to be pulled from market shelves.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry continues its food safety inspections to identify products that threaten public health. In recent inspections, the dangerous L. monocytogenes bacteria was found in the 'Annemin Köftesi Piliç Kasap Köfte' (My Mother's Meatballs Chicken Butcher Meatballs) product of Şenpiliç, one of Turkey's leading white meat producers. The Ministry has taken action to have these products recalled from the market, and a fine has been imposed on the company.
PRODUCTS MUST BE RECALLED
In a statement issued by the Ministry, it was noted that L. monocytogenes bacteria were detected in samples taken during inspections at Şenpiliç's facilities in Söğütlü. It was emphasized that this situation is in violation of the Turkish Food Codex Microbiological Criteria Regulation, and it was reported that the products must be recalled immediately. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the company within the framework of the relevant laws.

DANGERS OF L. MONOCYTOGENES BACTERIA
L. monocytogenes is one of the most dangerous foodborne pathogens. Research shows that this bacterium is even more lethal than more common bacteria such as salmonella. According to data from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, deaths resulting from this bacterium exceed 300 per year.
